It all started when...
Giselle Shepatin Designs was born in 1981. At that time Giselle was a weaver and a dyer of silk yarns. Giselle Shepatin, Inc. was formed in 2000 to the present day. American Whimsey, is the look created by Giselle Shepatin Studio and has been shown in China, Korea, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Kansas City, Dallas and many other US cities. Giselle Shepatin Designs have been worn on the Red Carpet at the Oscars and on the Mark Twain Awards on US TV.
Giselle Shepatin's designs have sold in stores all over the world and her scarves and clothing have been featured in Cirque de Soleil stores. Her other clients have included museum stores, fashion catalogues, online boutiques, and New York Fashion Week for over 30 years. Giselle's showrooms have been in Dallas, Los Angeles and at other shows across the country including runway shows in Korea and China.
At present she shows at her studio/showroom in Berkeley, CA by appointment and during open houses.
Giselle's work has changed over the years from a designer of handwoven fabrics to recently, having fabrics made for her company in France, India, and Belgium. Giselle Shepatin, Inc. makes it own fabrics in her Berkeley Studio. She uses fabrics made from the natural fibers such as silk, cotton and wool to the synthetics, such as polyester, fleece, and nylon.
Additionally, she has mentored many student interns from Cañada College and loves to discuss designs and business plans with new designers.
Giselle has a Masters degree and went to school for pattern making.
